Cedabond Announces Clive Groom as New Cedabond Chairman

Meet Clive Groom, a Member of Cedabond since 2003 and now their new Chairman following the move of Nigel Quince to Commercial Director.
Clive’s early career was in Hotels and Restaurants, during which Clive worked in all departments including kitchen, restaurant, bar, reception and housekeeping.
He also completed an HND in Hotel & Catering Management at the then Leeds Polytechnic, which was of course, “a sandwich course”.
In 1985, Clive’s first role in the catering equipment industry was as area manager in the North East for WM Still & Sons. Clive describes it as "a great company, great team, with inspirational leadership from Robin Clarke and David Kirk. It gave all of us an excellent foundation.”
In 2002 Clive completed an MBO and established CNG. Their client base includes many leading chefs and restauranteurs across the UK, including names such as Terry Laybourne, James MacKenzie, Grantley Hall, Gilpin Lodge, as well as some nationally and internationally respected companies such as Harvey Nichols, The Old Course Hotel and Fenwick.
Clive has always had close associations with the industry bodies. He is a past regional chairman of CEDA and CNG have consistently performed well in the annual CEDA Grand Prix, with projects in the final in every year and many wins.
CNG have been a Member of Cedabond since 2003, with Clive becoming a Non-Executive Director in 2009 and a period of acting chairman in 2011/12.
In 2015, Clive also established a property development company and a property rental company with Sarah and two business partners.
Away from business, Clive loves tennis; playing singles as well as watching live in-person and on TV, also dining out and live theatre. Clive is a Director of the Scarborough Theatre Development Trust and former director of the Stephen Joseph Theatre and Sir Alan Aykbourn’s home theatre, "a few years ago we sat next to Alan for a performance of an Aykbourn play, it was like watching Hamlet sitting next to Shakespeare!"
